JDS Degree College offers various academic courses. The extra-curricular and cultural activities planned at our college aim at the total personality development of students. Being a woman, it had always been a challenge for me to enter a field largely dominated by men. A great academic institution is never born; it is created. A committed management is the protective roof, teachers form the pillars, the pursuit of academic excellence is the cementing blocks, and harmony is its cornerstone. Universities and colleges are called “academic” institutions. There was a time when “academic” meant “pertaining to the development of the mind.” The goal of education used to be the development of mental powers, to the exclusion of everything else, and the goal was seldom achieved. The teaching of values, ethics and the general socialisation of the individual was left to the home and community. Schools didn't institutionalise these goals, except through disciplinary policy.
